JOIN THE MOVEMENT!

Canvassing will be one of the Urban League’s most important community-based activities, one central to its mission of empowering communities and changing lives. The most effective means of changing community is grassroots organizing.

That’s why the Urban League of Essex County is taking it to the streets!

We will be telling our story, and most importantly, hearing the stories of our community members and neighbors.

We will be going door-to-door, canvassing people on the streets, and otherwise actually, really and truly, reaching out to everyone in the community face to face.

We want to know:

What do they need?

What are they good at?

How can they get involved in solving the problems of their very own community?

We need your help. If you are charged up for equality and ready and willing to reach out to the community, come on down. We need outgoing people to come and go door to door telling our neighbors what the Urban League is up to, and finding out how our neighbors can empower their communities and change their own lives.

Ideal canvassers are outgoing, resilient, and confident, with high energy. All Canvassers receive thorough training, so that everyone knows the mission, programs, services, and events offered by the organization, plus role-playing to learn how to deal with different situations.
